Specialization of Environmental Engineering

The profile of the environmental engineer

Environmental engineers are specialists in preserving energy and the natural environment, treating sewage water, preventing and controlling pollution in an integrative manner, recycling and eliminating waste. The professional competences of an environmental engineer are based on ecological, geological, pedological notions and on monitoring and diagnosing the quality of the environment, on ecological reconstruction, on decreasing pollution of the environmental factors, on managing waste, on preserving and recovering the biodiversity of the environment, on analysis and impact environmental studies, on ecotoxicology and technologies with lower impact on the environment.

Professional perspectives

Competences obtained during the four years of university studies allows graduates to specialize on Environmental Engineering and to be active as agents in government, research and education, industry, agriculture, consultancy and management with careers like:

  • environmental representatives;
  • inspectors of environmental protection;
  • environmental counsellors for public institutions;
  • researchers in protecting the environment;
  • environmental auditors or analysts;
  • waste management specialists;
  • professors or teachers.
