Research center for animal resources

Within faculty research activity is carried out in Research Centre for Animal Resources and in the disciplines’ research laboratories belonging.

This research centre was established in 2001, and in the same year being accredited by CNCSIS (Bucharest, 11th of May 2002, Certificate no. 27/CC-B) and recognized as B type Research Centre, identification code 55/2001).

Scientific research activity carried out within Research Centre for Animal Resources is focused on the approach on various topics which fall into the following subfields:

  • Animal nutrition and nourishment;
  • Genetic breeding of animal populations;
  • Animals’ rearing and exploitation technologies.

At accreditation moment the evaluation commission nominalised by CNCSIS, considered opportune the establishment of such centre in the East area of Romania, where functioned, at that date, Faculty of Animal Sciences within UASVM Iași.

Research centre for food resources

This research centre was developed as a result of the implementation of a cross-border project funded by the European Union and has a modern research infrastructure.

Bearing in mind the fact that the field represented by food resources is a very complex one, scientific research activity is carried out in two distinct laboratories, main activities being represented by:

  • meat and meat products quality control;
  • milk and dairy products quality control.

Having in view that the research infrastructure in these laboratories is state-of-the-art, through determinations effectuated for quality control, food safety and security, we can also serve the process carried out within the didactic activities as well as fundamental research activities in the field represented by food science.
